Accounting used to completely perplex me and as a result I had to find a simpler way which I want to give you. People in startups tend to prefer doing more significant activities such as finding, listening to and keeping customers in preference to looking after their accounting. All companies have to pay special attention to their accounting if they want to avoid issues.

I asked my bookkeeper for help and he persuaded me to use Sage Software which turned out to be a small business accounting software package. Without even getting familiar with software I blindly went ahead and purchased the lowest cost version I could find. This was definitely one of the worst mistakes I made as the application turned out to be really hard to comprehend and use. To be frank whenever I find the word accounting together with the word software I am immediately reminded of the first lesson I must share with you and that is just about all small business accounting software makes the assumption the user possesses good working knowledge of bookkeeping.

Just like me small business owners are masters of their craft and the product or service they sell and not accounting but in my situation I was driven to devote time to finding a solution that would work for me. The second piece of advice I want to share with you is my discovery of a really easy to use and free web application called salesorder.com.

This is definitely the simplest software I have ever used and what’s more it is net based and therefore I can use it from anywhere I choose to work. And here is the coolest bit I want to tell you, the team at salesorder.com know their stuff, just like their application they are easy to work with and better still are happy to spend quality time with their customers (even the free ones) helping people like me to understand and address real issues in my business and to top it off they have coached me in the accounting I need to know.

The internet is an outlet for many companies to put up their business blogs. This practice accounts for endless reasons. Web standards compliance and default validation are what most blogging platforms at present have. On top of the default location, it would be easier to create designs and implement changes. Blogs are easier to sustain than manually updating every html file and uploading it into web hosting servers. The things you need are an internet connection and a web browser and you can log into the control panel of your blog anywhere you are in the world since all the programming has already been done inside the blogging platform. A distinctive software is not mandatory. It is simple you can upload photos and texts in such a format that you want.

Updating of web blogs are made easily while you can outline them in any way that you want them to appear. The content would fir into the right places that you want them to be should the blog is well designed. Nearly all blogs are intuitively designed, which makes it easy for readers to navigate through it. It’s also easy to make blogs compatible for search engine results. When words related to the content of the blog is typed, your blog appears in the first pages of the search engines.

A well created and well-designed weblog becomes more effective if advertised well. After all, the main purpose of creating a blog for your business is to market it. You may try to connect with your fellow business bloggers when you visit their blog sites and make a real comment on the key points. Just take care not to appear as if you’re spamming the website just to further your own. Building goodwill with fellow bloggers is the main point. If you maintain good with them, you will keep your link with your comment on it.

Focusing on other marketing strategy such as driving inbound link to your blog sites would be advantageous. This is a crucial factor in being on a high position on search engine results. Obtaining healthy page ranks to link back to your blog is the only problem you have to deal with. There are some services you can rely on like Linkvana which takes care of that for you. Linkvana makes seo easy. Your blogs’ popularity may be increased tremendously when you keep pool of websites and blogs with a fine page rank of two and above.

To identify what kind of linkback and readerships you get, it is important to put up script to monitor its progress. Only relevant blog contents should be uploaded in your blogsite that have relation with the popular searches on the internet. This increases the likelihood of ranking high on search engine results.

As a humanizing aspect to your business, blogs could be used as powerful tools. In today’s set up, even popular business sites maintain blogs with contents made available by their CEOs. The benefits will be worth it in the end although it entails a lot of conscentiousness maintaining and updating it. Blogs help in the promotion of effective communication between business and their clients, present and potential, as well.

The key reason members of both sexes fail to adjust to operating remotely is they don’t see the essential requirement of good quality organisation and enduring self management.

I have been operating remotely for almost a decade since I first unearthed Quickbooks online an ‘on demand’ small business accounting software web application and was mesmerised by the fact that if you can perform accounting on the Internet then why shouldn’t you be able to do other important types of work at a distance?

Whilst working remotely has numerous upsides there are numerous pitfalls which lead to problems that result in cuts in work output and reduced morale. The major reason for decreases in productivity in remote employees is disturbance and it is a proven and well known fact that it can take a worker up to 0.33 hours to establish their original productivity level after experiencing a disruption.

Research also shows that persons who are continuously affected by distractions are more likely to be susceptible to decreased memory power and are prone to developing mental health issues in later life. We live in an over communicated time and it is important that you are aware of the problems this causes before you decide to work remotely. When working remotely you must do everything feasible to reduce the threat of being interrupted.

Here are things that really do work:

1, Get a habit, tell everyone about it and stick to it!

Good examples are a specific time of day when you review or compose and reply to e-mail and make or receive phone calls. Before I began working remotely I used to receive well over a couple of hundred e-mails in 24 hours. Now I think I am unfortunate if I receive more than five. To ’reset’ my electronic mail experience I modified my e-mail address and vigorously took steps to look after the details being made known to anyone. I then ‘trained’ every individual who I gave my e-mail address to, to use it with special care. I also set up an auto-responder that swiftly informed anyone sending me mail my schedule for processing mail and if someone required my immediate consideration to mark it as ‘Urgent’.

2. Get rid of alerts.

Turn off every feature that can send you a visual or audible alert. This includes portable and
conventional telephones and forms of alerts from electronic mail such as visual alerts, beeps, screen changes to your inbox folder and of course facing a window. Get a door on your work room and put up a ‘do not disturb’ sign on it.

In ‘Remote Working Part 3 – Basic Toolkit’ I will reveal my favourite tools and software.

IT outsourcing really is controversial. We are referring to a process that is even included in political debates. This made people look away and miss out on a great opportunity. Never neglect the benefits that IT Outsourced offer you in your constant struggle to make your business bigger.

Through IT outsourcing you are contracting some areas of your business. Contrary to what you might believe, this does not necessarily imply working with an offshore provider. Outsourcing of IT Jobs is surely available on a local basis as well. Your needs are sure to be covered properly through outsourcing IT. Common examples of popular IT linked outsourced services include payroll administration, distribution services, manufacturing, staffing, maintenance, network security and data management.

Outsourcing IT steps out as something that a lot of companies are thinking about. In most cases there is a trend to look for IT outsourcing providers in developing countries. The reason why this happens is price. We can say that at the moment IT Outsourcing in India is first on the list for a lot of companies. To make everything even more appealing, you should know that companies are even helped by developing countries and their governments through special laws to help you out. At the end of the day you can gain a lot of extra profit and cost cuts.

Keep in mind that any IT outsourcing move you decide to do needs to be properly analyzed. You have to research the company you will work with and make sure that it is a good decision to hire them. You should never only think about cutting costs at the expense of other highly important factors. For instance, the one factor that most companies tend to forget is experience. We also recommend that you include risk management in your IT outsourcing strategy so that you can make sure that you can properly deal with anything that might appear. Unfortunately IT outsourcing is not easy to do and it can only rake in benefits if you properly do it.
If you are not 100% sure that your IT outsourcing strategy is good, you should consider asking for help. Professional help is available and it might be the best decision that you ever made.

Certification test

Structural welding certification tests are usually either 3/8″ thick or 1″ thick. Both thicknesses use a 1/4″ thick backing strip and a 1/4″ gap.

Unless you are lucky enough to be tested for a Fab shop, you will probably be required to weld 2 certification test plates, one in the vertical position (also known as the 3G position) and one in the overhead position (4G). When both vertical 3G and overhead 4G welding tests are passed, the welder is qualified for all positions.

The 1″ thick test qualifies for unlimited thickness and the 3/8″ thick welding certification plate test has a thickness limitation. Most people think the 3/8″ is a bit easier.

This could be handlebars for a chopper, a bike rack for the back of a Jeep, a landscape trailer, or a deer stand. (All of which could kill someone if the welds failed). The next best thing to certifying a welder is to destructively test the weld.

Lets use the chopper handlebars for an example. Obviously, you cant destroy every weld you make but what if you were to weld up a mock up set of handlebars just to prove the weld settings? Wouldn’t it be worth the price of the tubing just to have confidence in the welds?.

By welding a mock-up set of handlebars using some extra tubing of the same exact material type and thickness and then, taking the mock-up handlebars out back and beating the hell out of them with a BFH (big freakin hammer) you would have a pretty good idea on the soundness of the welds. If the welds broke, oh well, at least you weren’t going around a curve at 90 mph. Back to the drawing board until you find out what went wrong.

COST BENEFITS
It just costs you less to hire a company to take care of certain functions for you. Save space and save money by not having to train staff for these tasks. Employer’s spend tons of time interviewing for those speciality areas within a company. By outsourcing such things you free up your time to deal with the real business of running your company. At the end of each quarter you will have more capital to plow back into your expanding business.

QUICK RESPONSE TO CHANGING NEEDS
Just think of all the time you will save not having to run around trying to hire so many people. No time consuming interviews and back ground checks needed. If you outsource a new project the company you hire is in charge of making sure that they have trained individuals ready to go at a moment’s notice. A good example of outsourcing for medical practice needs is this Medical Billing firm.

Less Cash Infusion Needed For Success
By outsourcing things like data processing and customer service you eliminate the need to spend money on computers and other equipment that is used in these tasks. Any money you don’t need to invest in additional, single function equipment, is more money that can be used to build the company or pay qualified individuals to work on your projects.

LEVEL YOUR PLAYING FIELD
Big companies can afford to hire the very best, and to go through several employees before they find a good match. A small company has to be ready to go on the day they open their doors. Companies that provide outsourcing services have already done the hard work of interviewing, assessing skills and training their employees. People are lined up at outsourcing companies waiting and trained to work for you. With a properly trained and prepared workforce that you don’t need to worry about, you can more easily compete with larger companies providing the same services. See the web site Billing Solutions for an example of the highly trained staff avaible at an outsource company.

Services That Fit
When you find a good outsourcing company you can count on them to have employees trained in the newest technologies and techniques. If for a little while you need someone who specializes in setting up partial payments, you can have them. If you need a small team of individuals to assess the effectiveness of your latest marketing strategy, they can be tacked on to your weekly arrangement and end when the need subsides. If you looking to become a company that can change quikly then outsourcing is for you.

A small business can see real cost cuts from engaging in outsourcing. With so many outsourcing businesses you can pick and chose, ensuring the best possible fit.

When it comes to your documents, photos, and data there is a great option for safe storage that doesn’t involve disks, tapes, or gadgets that can get lost, stolen or damaged. Web Attached Storage can protect and serve your personal information anywhere (not just in your house, office, or a tape).

Although your computer files are safe from many threats, there is still the danger of flood or fire, or computer related damage, like hard drive failure, viruses, or human error damaging your data. Digital information is hard and sometimes impossible to recover. With laptop theft rampant you have to worry about this as well.

Web Attached Storage is a inexpensive and practical solution. Your files are first encrypted, then transferred to your Web Attached Storage space to keep them available but only available to you. Additionally, accounts are password protected.

Some considerations when using Web Attached Storage. Some key points are:

Continuous Backup

Frequent backups reduce the chance of losing information. The best Web Attached Storage services have network drive and synchronization features.

Keep local copies

Although Web Attached Storage is secure, it’s also just common sense to keep the originals on your computer. Thus making it easier to simply synchronize changes to your Web Attached Storage.

Organize your information

It’s senseless to store files if you can’t locate them. The file and folder structure of your own disk is mirrored with Web Attached Storage. It’s a smart business decision to do so.

Keep it secure

Web Attached Storage has personal passwords as a requirement of access. Always keep your account name and password private so your files can’t be compromised.

Home business is like any other business. You have files that can’t be replaced. Photos, banking data, accounts receivables, etc. Data to consider synchronizing to Web Attached Storage include:

Photos

Movies

Audio

Tax Information

Word Documents

PDF Archives

Email

Web Attached Storage provides next generation features like network drive and synchronization that can give you immediate benefits while protecting your important information.

Which Web Attached Storage product do we like? We particularly like the features, cost, and reliability of OPENRSM CloudBackup. It gives a great balance of features that go further than online backup that is particularly cost effective. We can’t say enough good about it.

Every business executive and journalist I know is talking about the advantages of cloud computing. But what is it, what is the impact on business and what are the economic and tangible benefits?

Cloud means Internet. The computing is done on the Internet – in place of the software you use executing on your computer, it runs somewhere on the Internet on a server installed in a data centre commonly staffed by people who are proficient in managing technology. This type of “cloud” software is sometimes called “on demand” or Software as a Service (SaaS).

Some good examples of popular Software as a Service are:

Web based CRM Software (Customer Relationship Management) – Salesforce.com pricing about $9 per user/month.
Small business management and accounting software (small business ERP) – Salesorder.com pricing $45 per user/month.
Medium sized business ERP software – NetSuite pricing about $99 per user/month.

There are 3 significant benefits for every business here:

Time, cost savings and reliability

Businesses do not need a permanent information technology professional to help them identify, commission and look after the technology infrastructure thus lowering operating costs and time to implement. The effort of continuosly backing up data is removed as this is normally an inherent feature of the “cloud” software. Cloud software “operators” normally have stand by systems that can be brought to bear in a very short amount of time should a catastrophic failure occur.

Easier selection and more choice

Through the ubiquitous web browser, businesses now have instant access to a huge range of business software they can in most cases immediately try and effectively establish if the software meets their needs at no expense. This makes it very easy for managers in large enterprises to circumvent the common information technology buying processes and easily test and justify their business case.

Superior user experience

The internet provides instant feedback to application developers and has driven amazing progress in user interface design resulting in easier to use software in turn lowering learning times and improving user satisfaction. This of course means quicker adoption and higher productivity.
